O.R.S.

O.R.S. for better hydration

Prevent dehydration with Care Plus® O.R.S sachets. the sachets are easy to use and promote hydration during physical exercise, such as hiking, cycling and mountaineering. The packaging contains 10 O.R.S. sachets with glucose-salt preparation.

Dehydration usually occurs during and after physical exertion (sports) and at high temperatures. Excessive perspiration, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, burns or the use of certain medicines can also lead to dehydration symptoms. Stay alert and make sure you keep O.R.S. within reach. A combination of the right amounts of salts and glucose increases the absorption of water during strenuous physical activity or when your body’s hydration system is out of balance.

Symptoms of dehydration

  • Increased thirst
  • Dry mouth
  • Dry eyes
  • Less urination
  • Cold arms and legs
  • Feeling drowsy and confused
  • Fainting

O.R.S. is used for diarrhoea to replenish the loss of water, sugars and salts. Just water is usually not enough. The intestines need sugars and salts in order to absorb water in the body. It is important that you not only use the O.R.S. solution but also try to drink more.

O.R.S. means Oral Rehydration Salts and is a safe remedy. People with bad kidney function or diabetes must consider the amount of glucose and salt in O.R.S.

What are the ingredients in O.R.S?

Glucose, Dextrin, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, Acid Citric Acid, Potassium Chloride, Flavouring, Red Beet Juice Powder Anti-Caking Agent Silicon Dioxide, Sweetener Sucralose, Colour Riboflavin 5’-phosphate-sodium.

Where can I find the expiry date of the product?

On the bottom of the packaging and/or the bottle. The date is written in the English way because of European legislation. For example: 202105 (2021-05) May 2021

How many times a day can you use it?

Use 10 ml per kilo of body weight as a measure and administer this every hour, for 4 to 6 hours.

Can you also give O.R.S. to children?

Yes, you can. Dosage for children under 20 kg: Dissolve 1 sachet in 200 ml of reliable drinking water. For babies, we recommend a teaspoon of O.R.S. solution every 2-4 minutes. The solution can be given with a spoon or from a (sterilized) bottle. Preferably give the O.R.S. solution before bottle- or breastfeeding, it will then be easier to drink enough. After that, offer the food as you are used to. Even if you need less, you should still dissolve 1 sachet in 200 ml of water. Then use the right amount and dispose of the remaining solution or store it according to the storage instructions.

Why do you need to drink clean water?

Clean drinking water: we cannot live without. You consist of about 75% water and all your organs, tissues and cells must remain sufficiently hydrated. The water in your body also has a cleansing function, because it takes care of the removal of waste products. It is therefore essential to drink clean water.
