Contaminated water can contain protozoa (single-celled organisms), bacteria and viruses. For drinking water contaminated with microorganisms, one harmful organism can already pose a health risk. For example, infectious diseases of particularly the gastrointestinal tract, such as diarrhoea, typhoid, cholera and hepatitis A.<\/p>\n<p>When purifying water, it is important to deactivate protozoa, bacteria and viruses. Boiling water is an easy and effective method. However, this is time-consuming and not always possible. Deactivating protozoa and bacteria can be done with membrane\u00a00.1-0.5 micron (pore diameter) filter. Deactivating bacteria and viruses can be done with the chemical treatment of sodium hypochlorite, such as drinking water disinfectant\u00a0Hadex\u00ae. In besmet water kunnen schadelijke protozo\u00ebn (eencellige organismen), bacteri\u00ebn en virussen worden aangetroffen. Voor drinkwater vervuild met micro-organismen geldt dat \u00e9\u00e9n schadelijk organisme al gevaar voor de gezondheid kan opleveren. Denk hierbij aan infectieziekten van veelal het maag-\/darmkanaal, zoals diarree, buiktyfus, cholera en hepatitis A.\r\n\r\nBij waterzuivering is het belangrijk om zowel protozo\u00ebn (cysten), als bacteri\u00ebn en virussen te inactiveren. Makkelijk en doeltreffend is het koken van water. Echter is dit tijdrovend en lang niet overal gemakkelijk uitvoerbaar. Het inactiveren van protozo\u00ebn en bacteri\u00ebn kan met een membraanfilter van 0,1-0,5 micron (poriediameter). Het inactiveren van bacteri\u00ebn en virussen kan met een chemische behandeling van natriumhypochloriet, zoals het drinkwater desinfectiemiddel Hadex\u00ae.
